Prof. Mustafa Zelal Muallem is the deputy director of the department of Gynecology with the center for Gynecological oncology at the Charite medical university of Berlin, Germany. He was born and raised in Syria, where he earned his medical degree at Aleppo University's Faculty of Medicine. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Aleppo before moving to Germany in 2008 to start his fellowship in gynecological oncology.
Prof. Muallem has worked since 2011 as a consultant at Charite medical university of Berlin and has served since 2015 as the deputy director of the department of gynecology. He is actively involved in training and supervising medical students, residents, and fellows in gynecological oncology.
His clinical and research expertise is focused on surgical therapy and developing innovative surgical approaches for the treatment of gynecologic cancers and maintaining the best quality of life after surgery by improvement of minimally invasive techniques, establishing nerve-sparing procedures in oncological surgery, and implementing reconstruction procedures after a radical cancer operation.
