Khan earned his medical degree from the Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, in 2016. He has also completed a Master of Science in Clinical Research from Rush University Medical Center, Chicago. An active member of the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology, Khan has authored more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals and two book chapters. He reviews articles frequently for the American Journal of Cardiology and the European Journal of Heart Failure. He is also the founder of the Research Council of Pakistan, a society that helps medical students become future leaders of medicine by teaching advanced research techniques.
