Dr. Muhammad Elamin is a Consultant Physician and Clinical Toxicologist at the West Midlands Poisons Unit, Birmingham City Hospital and Birmingham unit of the UK National Poisons Information Service (NPIS). He is also the NPIS Consultant CPD lead.

He completed his specialist clinical training in the UK as well as an MSc in Medical Toxicology from Cardiff University. His basic medical training was in Sudan, hence his passion for the MENA region. He has participated in the delivery of clinical toxicology teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the UK, Ethiopia, and Sudan. A regular participant at MENATOX conferences since Dubai 2013 he has also worked with the annual abstract selection committee for MENATOX and has been one of the MENATOX social media administrators.

Since 2017, Dr. Elamin has participated in the annual abstract review for the annual European Association of Poisons Centres & Clinical Toxicologists. He has been a co-author of a number of peer-reviewed articles relating to clinical toxicology, including a study of the cost-effectiveness of the UK National Poisons Information Service in addition to EAPCCT conference abstracts/posters since 2013. He has also participated in the expert review process of the recently published 2020 updated WHO Guidelines for establishing a poison center.
