Dr. Mubeen Jafri joined the OHSU Division of Pediatric Surgery in September 2011. He was appointed the interim chair of pediatric surgery in 2017. Dr. Jafri came to Portland after almost a decade of training and research in Cincinnati, Ohio. He completed his training at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center where he also spent two years of research in the area of biliary atresia, the most common cause of liver failure requiring a transplant in children. His care of these special children that usually require operative intervention in the first few months of life helped develop an understanding of the role of pediatric surgery in the care of the most fragile patients.
