Dr. Mrinalini Chaturvedi is presently serving as President (Medical Affairs, R&D), of Cryoviva Biotech Private Limited. She is an alumnus of Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, graduated in 1981, and Postgraduate in Pathology from Army Hospital (Research & Referral) New Delhi. She obtained her MBA degree in Healthcare Administration from the prestigious FMS, University of Delhi. Commissioned in Army Medical Corps she has served the Indian Air Force as a short service commissioned Medical Officer. She was awarded DGHS Scholarship for doctoral studies. On a Fogarty scholarship, she completed certificate courses in Clinical Research, Ethical Issues in Clinical Research, and Getting Funded at UCSF, Medical Centre, and Blood Centres of the Pacific in San Francisco, 2002. In clinical research, she mentored Dr. Mike Busch and Dr. Ed Murphy, eminent researchers in the field of Blood Safety. Her project in blood safety resulted in collaborative research between India and UCSF, CA. She underwent specialized training in stem cell culture, expansion, and differentiation technology at the Cell Therapy Centre, University of Utah, Da Vinci Biosciences Research Laboratories, Costa Mesa, USA, and CCMB, Hyderabad. Has completed Inspector’s course for FACT NET CORD Accreditation and is a NABL Assessor. She was awarded ‘The certificate of Appreciation from NIB, DBT, Government of India, for her work in blood safety, and for conducting large-scale training programs for South India. Has delivered the keynote address at World Cord Blood Symposium 2013, Cambridge USA, and Orations at several international scientific conferences. At Rotary TTK Blood Centre in Bangalore, Dr. Chaturvedi was head of the Immunogenetics and Histocompatibility laboratory supporting the organ transplant program in Karnataka. She was instrumental in starting the first Bone Marrow Transplant program in Bangalore and did a collaborative research project for HLA and Disease Association. Dr. Mrinalini has been a faculty in WHO, DBT, KHSDP, Drugs Control Inspector’s training, and NACO training programs and is an invited speaker at national and international conferences and CME programs. She has participated in FICCI-DBT biotechnology platforms and has been on the core team for drafting the regulations on cord blood stem cell banks for DCGI. She has a keen interest in furthering the science of Cellular Therapy Product banking and developing new CT products for research and therapeutic applications, with a strong focus on ethics and Quality Assurance. She has developed the Cord tissue Mesenchymal Stem Cell banking program which is now offered as a service by Cryoviva India.
