Dr. Thomas Ind qualified in medicine in 1989 from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College (London University). He obtained membership to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in 1995 and is now a Fellow. He obtained a doctorate from the University of London in 1994 for his thesis on Placental Alkaline Phosphatase as a tumour marker in gynaecological malignancies. In addition to his medical degree, doctorate, and membership to RCOG, Thomas Ind holds a number of other registrations and certificates. He is a registered sub-specialist in gynaecological oncology by the UK General Medical Council (GMC). He has level III certification in laparoscopic surgery from the RCOG. He is also certified by the RCOG and BSCCP as a colposcopist.

Thomas Ind was appointed consultant Gynaecological Surgeon to St George’s Hospital (London) and The Royal Marsden (London) in 2001. He is currently Head of Department of Gynaecological Oncology at The Royal Marsden and Medical Director of Private Care. He is active in research and is the author of numerous academic papers, books, and book chapters including being a section editor of Gray’s Anatomy. He has over 100 publications listed on Google Scholar. He is an examiner for newly qualified doctors, a surgical skills tutor, and an advocate of laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He has a strong interest in gynaecological surgery, cancer, and colposcopy. He performed the first robotic gynaecological procedure in the UK as well as the first single-incision hysterectomy. Thomas Ind was born in London in 1966 and is the son of a doctor and teacher. He has two brothers and is the fourth generation of his family to practice medicine. He is married to Emma and has two children.
