Mona R Prasad completed her undergraduate years at University of Michigan earning a BS in Biopsychology in 1994. She subsequently completed her Masters in Public Health in Ann Arbor, earning an MPH in Hospital and Molecular Epidemiology in 1997.

She completed medical school at Midwestern University-Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine where she excelled and secured residency training at The Ohio State University. In the course of her training she was selected to be Administrative Chief Resident, selected as the Martilla Renee Jones award recipient, and received the College of Medicine Resident Teaching award from the graduating medical school class of 2005.

After completing Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship at The Ohio State University, she stayed to join the faculty in the Department of OB/GYN, where she has remained until March 2015. In the next few weeks she will be pursuing co-appointment with Trinity Health Systems in Columbus, Ohio. She remains active in research involving Hepatitis C and Pregnancy, and is the Principal Investigator of an Observational Study of Hepatitis C Virus being conducted by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD, Maternal Fetal Medicine Units Network. This study will definitively outline risk factors for mother-to-child transmission of HCV. She is active in the clinical care of substance abusing mothers and is Medical Director of the Substance Abuse Treatment, Education and Prevention Clinic The Ohio State University
