Mollie Hertel is a Senior Research Scientist in NORC at the University of Chicago's Health Care Evaluation Research department. She specializes in data collection, analysis, program evaluation, and implementation. Hertel manages several multi-state qualitative research projects for the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC). She also leads a mixed-methods evaluation of Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care for Aetna, an integrated physical and behavioral health Medicaid managed care plan primarily serving Maricopa County, Arizona.
Hertel works with CMS Office of Minority Health (OMH) on the implementation of activities associated with CMS's Equity Plan to reduce health disparities in targeted populations. In addition, she leads work providing evaluation technical assistance to federal grantees working to link individuals recently released from jail to social and health services. Previously, Hertel worked for NORC on Learning Systems through the State Innovations Model (SIM) technical assistance contract, identifying ways the technical assistance provided could be expanded and generalized to facilitate state-to-state learning. Prior to her work at NORC, Hertel worked as a Health care Senior Analyst with the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
