Dr. Trikha has more than 20 years of oncology drug development experience. Prior to joining Triphase, Dr. Trikha was Associate VP of Clinical Development at Ambit Biosciences, Director of BioOncology Early Development at Genentech, and Assistant Director of Oncology Research at Centocor (Johnson and Johnson). At Ambit Biosciences, Dr Trikha was responsible for translational medicine, clinical biostatistics, data management, medical writing, and project management. At Genentech, Dr Trikha had a joint appointment in Research and Development and was responsible for BioOncology Early Development of small molecules, antibodies and antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). He helped advance many programs from clinical candidate nomination through proof of concept clinical studies at Genentech. Two of them have recently been approved: Kadcyla® (Herceptin-DM1) and Erivedge® (GDC 0449 Hedgehog inhibitor), and MetMab (anti-cMET antibody) is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials. At Centocor, Dr Trikha’s research focused on angiogenesis, inflammatory cytokines, targeted immunoliposomes, and monoclonal antibodies. He has patents on Siltuximab (CNTO 328 an anti-IL6 mAb), CNTO 95 (an anti-integrin mAb), IMGN388 (an anti-angiogenic ADC), and EGFR targeting STEALTH® immunoliposomes. IMGN388 advanced to Phase 1, CNTO 95 advanced to Phase 2 and Siltuximab should hopefully be approved shortly for Castleman’s disease (J&J has submitted BLA to the FDA in 2013). Over the course of his career, Dr. Trikha has been involved in multiple discovery research programs, helped file 12 oncology INDs, initiated multiple Phase I and Phase 2 clinical trials, and had responsibility for translational medicine, project management, companion diagnostics, biostatistics, and medical writing. Dr Trikha has closely worked on Kadcyla® (Herceptin-DM1), Erivedge® (GDC 0449 Hedgehog inhibitor), MetMab (anti-cMET antibody), anti-CD22 ADC, anti-CD19 ADC, GDC 0941 (PI3 kinase inhibitor), Quizartinib (AC220 FLT3 kinase inhibitor), AC480 (pan-HER kinase inhibitor), ABT263 (bcl-2 inhibitor), and GDC0152 (IAP antagonist), Siltuximab, CNTO 95, and IMGN388. Dr Trikha has extensive experience in developing small molecules, monoclonal antibodies, and ADCs. He serves as a scientific advisor for several companies. His research interests are in cell signaling, kinases and development of novel biomarkers for response and toxicity.
