Mohammed Almekhlafi, MSc, FRCPC, is an Assistant Professor and a Consultant of Stroke Neurology and Interventional Neuroradiology at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) Hospital, Jeddah, KSA. He currently serves as the President of the Saudi Stroke Association. After finishing his medical school at KAU, he moved to the University of Calgary (2005-2014) where he did his clinical training in neurology, stroke, and interventional neuroradiology. He completed his master degree in clinical epidemiology and won the Canada’s Governor General Gold Medal for academic achievement for his master thesis in 2013.
He has co-authored over 60 peer-review publications in journals (Circulation, Annals of Neurology, Neurology, and Stroke). These articles were cited over 800 times. He also serve as a peer-reviewer for a number of journals including the American Journal of Neuroradiology, Stroke, and Annals of Saudi Medicine and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Neuroscience Journal, Riyadh. His research interests are in acute stroke workflow, endovascular stroke therapy, and meta-analyses.
