Mohammed Aejaz Habeeb MBBS, MD, DM, PhD

Dr Mohammed Aejaz Habeeb is a renowned senior Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist from Hyderabad city. He is the son of a noted Gastroenterologist Hepatologist and Padmashree awardee, Professor C M Habibullah who has made some outstanding contributions in the field of Gastroenterology in India. Dr Habeeb completed his MBBS from Osmania University, Hyderabad. Subsequently, he pursued higher studies at AIIMS, New Delhi from where he achieved MD (General Medicine) and DM (Gastroenterology) degrees. These qualifications were further strengthened with the realization of the PhD degree from JNTU, Hyderabad. 

Dr Habeeb holds a deep interest in Luminal Gastroenterology and Therapeutic Endoscopy including ERCP. He is extremely passionate about research work concerning Stem Cell Research in Liver Disease which he is pursuing at the Centre for Liver Research and Diagnostics, an institute set up by his late father in Hyderabad. His other research pursuits include the execution of various multicentre clinical trials related to Ulcerative Colitis and Chronic Hepatitis B Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Liver Cirrhosis. Dr Habeeb’s meticulous research work and exceptional paper presenting skills have bagged him numerous awards at conferences, under the Best Paper category. He has several publications to his credit, as well. 

Currently, Dr Habeeb is practising in Hyderabad at the following centres: Habeeb Gastro Care Centre, Owaisi Hospital and Research Centre, Apollo Hospitals (Hyderguda) and Centre for Liver Research Diagnostics. Professor C M Habibullah was a pioneer in Hepatology research and Dr Habeeb continues to keep his father’s research work alive. He presently plays an important role in making valuable scientific contributions in this given field.
