Dr Hossain is a researcher with multi-disciplinary experiences covering academia and industry. He has been working in the area of biomedical/public health research for 20 years. After completing a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the National University of Singapore (NUS), he was Postdoctoral Research Fellow at DUKE-NUS Graduate Medical School and National Cancer Centre Singapore. With over a decade of training in world-class research facilities in Singapore, he returned to his home country, Bangladesh, and served in various capacities including Senior Manager (R&D) at a reputed Pharmaceutical Ltd. (Biotech division) and Assistant Professor at BRAC University. He is currently serving as Executive Director, of the Biomedical Research Foundation (BRF), Bangladesh, and Associate Professor at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). He was appointed as an Honorary Principal Fellow (2019-2021) and is currently an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong, Australia.

Hossain has co-authored publications in high-impact journals such as Lancet, Cell Report, Oncogene, Stem Cell Report, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Virology, Biology of Reproduction, Virology, BMC Cancer Cancer Epidemiology, Autism, Orphanet Journal of Rare Diseases, Plos Neglected Tropical Diseases, etc. His current research interest encompasses public health aspects of Emerging and Neglected Diseases in the context of limited-resource settings (Bangladesh).
