Mohamed Shafik Shaheen is a Professor of Ophthalmology and a Cornea and Refractive Surgery Consultant at the University of Alexandria Hospitals in Alexandria, Egypt. Dr. Shaheen obtained a Master's of Ophthalmology degree at the University of Alexandria, a Doctorate in Ophthalmology from the University of Complutense in Madrid, Spain, and a Fellow of the Instituto Ramon Castroviejo in Madrid, Spain. He is licensed to practice medicine in Spain, Egypt, Dubai, Sudan, and Libya. Dr. Shaheen is the Founder and Director of Horus Vision Correction Center in Alexandria and three other leading refractive centers in Egypt and the Middle East.
He is a member of many International Refractive Societies, founding member of many Refractive Societies in Egypt and the Middle East, and a Board Member of the Egyptian Society of Ocular Implants and Refractive Surgery (ESOIRS), the Egyptian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (EgSCRS) and the Egyptian Refractive Club (ERC). He is also a member of the reviewer's board of many leading Refractive Surgery Peer-reviewed journals, and winner of many honors and awards from the Egyptian and Regional Societies of Refractive Surgery, including International Global Advisory Board Member of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today Europe (CRSTE). Dr. Shaheen has authored more than 60 regional and international published original articles and book chapters in the field of refractive surgery.
