Dr. Miriam Beattie, DNP, GNP-BC, ANP-BC, is a Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Utah in the Division of Geriatrics. As a board-certified Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, her clinical interests include: outpatient geriatric care, prevention of delirium in older adults who are hospitalized, rehabilitation care after hospitalization, and long-term care. Beattie is part of a dedicated team of professionals that run the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) at the University Hospital. Together with highly-trained volunteers, the HELP team has dramatically reduced the incidence of delirium (an acute change in mental status) in our hospitalized patients over the age of 70.

Dr. Miriam Beattie received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Utah, College of Nursing. Her Master’s and Doctoral studies were focused on management of behaviors in persons with dementia. She is currently Vice President of the Utah Geriatrics Society, a state affiliate of the American Geriatrics Society.
