Milton Lee Chip Routt, Jr MD

Dr. Chip Routt is a Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Routt specializes in Orthopedic Trauma with an emphasis on treating the multiply injured patient. His areas of expertise include Pelvic ring and acetabular disruptions and acetabular fractures. He is internationally recognized for his pioneering work developing safe percutaneous pelvic fixation techniques, relevant pelvic biomechanical research, reliable pelvic and acetabular imaging, innovative and improved surgical care for complex acetabular fractures, optimizing surgical decision-making and clinical judgment, and advancing surgical safety by diminishing risk.

Dr. Routt received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University. He attended Medical School at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed an Orthopaedic Surgery internship and residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He went on to complete a fellowship in Orthopaedic Traumatology at the University of Washington’s Harborview Medical Center.
