Milan Profant (1952) comes from Bratislava. In 1976, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University in Bratislava. After the attestations in 1987, he received the rank of candidate of medical sciences for the work Computer tomography in the diagnosis of temporal bone diseases, and in 1993 he obtained his habilitation with the work Development and current state of stirrup surgery in otosclerosis. In 2000, he completed the inaugural continuation by being appointed professor of otolaryngology. He was ordinary for endoscopy, and a forensic expert in otolaryngology.

Currently, he is the main expert of the Ministry of Health for otorhinolaryngology, and a consultant to the General Health Insurance Company and the Mutual Life Insurance Company. From 1992 until now, he has been the head of the Otorhinolaryngology Clinic of the Medical Faculty of Charles University and the Bratislava Faculty Hospital. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Arts, UK. He is also engaged in pedagogical activities by teaching doctors at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and training medical specialists in their specialized studies in ENT, as well as training doctoral students in this field.

Professor Profant is a member of several professional societies - the Slovak Society for Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (he was the chairman for several years), a member of the Collegium Otolaryngologicum Amititiae Sacrum. In the years 2012-2014, he was the president of the European Academy of Ear Medicine (EAONO). He is a member of the International Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery based in Sankt Petersburg. Professor Profant is an honorary member of the Hungarian, German, Austrian, Slovenian, and Czech ENT societies. He was a member of the Executive Committee of EUFOS - the European Federation of ENT Societies.
