Mike Sathekge is a Professor and Head of the Nuclear Medicine department at the University of Pretoria and Steve Biko Academic Hospital. Mike is Chairman of the Medical Research Council of South Africa. Internationally he is the in-coming co-Editor-in-Chief of the Seminars of Nuclear Medicine Journal. He is the Immediate Past-President of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) and the International Society of Radiolabeled Blood Elements (ISORBE). Mike is also the past secretary-general of the World Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (WFNMB and serves in the Governing Body of the World Association of Radiopharmaceuticals and Molecular Therapy (WARMTH).

Prof Sathekge has performed several first-in-human studies and introduced peptide receptor radionuclide therapy and peptide radioligand therapy in Africa, as well as 225Ac-PSMA for prostate cancer. He is a recipient of several key awards for research and service, including being rated as an Internationally Acclaimed researcher by the National Research Foundation, and winning the award to host the Main Nuclear Medicine Research Infrastructure (NuMeRI) Facility in South Africa. His publication and presentation record internationally & nationally have earned him editorial roles in peer-reviewed journals including the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (EJNMMI), European Journal of Hybrid Imaging, WJNM, and Neuroendocrinology amongst others.
