Mike Cavanagh, PA-C, is a physician assistant with 20 years of experience in orthopedics. He continues to cover orthopedic trauma at a busy Level I Trauma Center and has a passion for teaching and the outdoors. Mike was raised in the Northeast Mountain region of Oregon and has always loved spending time in the mountains. He grew up working for the Forest Service, initially restoring hiking trails, then went on to a career in fighting forest fires while in high school and college. He took an interest in Marine biology and studied abroad in Maui for a semester, where he participated in coral reef research.
Mike became AWLS certified in 2016 when he climbed the tallest peak in Central America (Tajamulco) and is currently finishing his Fellowship of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM). Mike has a passion for the outdoors and has been an instructor on several of our trips, including our recent Austria CME ski course. While at home, he enjoys being active outdoors, hiking with his dog, Charlie, or riding his bike.
