Miguel-angel Mayer Pujadas MD, PhD, MPH

Miguel-Angel Mayer is an MD, specialist in Family and Community Medicine, MPH and PhD in Biomedical Informatics. He is an Associate Professor and academic coordinator of the Biomedical Informatics subject at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, and Senior Researcher at the Research Programme on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB) of the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM) in Barcelona. He was the director of the Department of Health Web Site Accreditation Program of the Medical Association of Barcelona and he worked for more than 10 years as a medical doctor in an Internal Medicine department and in Primary Care settings in the Spanish National Healthcare System. He is a member of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) of the EU and several working groups on ICTs and its application in Healthcare. Since 2001 he has participated and is involved in several European projects under the DG-SANCO, Internet Safer Action Plan, FP7 and the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), working on several research topics such as the quality, assessment and management of health information on the Internet, computer applications and educational activities for the general public in Healthcare, Semantic Web, standards and the reuse of Electronic Health Records for research as well as the analysis of Web 2.0 and mobile Apps for medical and public health applications.
