Michelle Garcia Winner is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist who specializes in social communication, social learning and social pragmatics. Michelle’s work is not gender or culturally based but instead addresses our universal social expectations that are part of human social interaction.

Michelle created Social Thinking, a unique approach to teaching communication and relationship building, and founded the company by the same name. Social Thinking generates and teaches practical strategies that can be used broadly with students with social learning needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD, Social communication disorders, Gifted & Talented, and those undiagnosed with strong language skills but relatively weak social intelligence. Social Thinking’s core information can also be applied at home, in the community, and in the mainstream classroom as part of Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports, Character Building, Response to Intervention, Social Emotional Learning Initiatives (CASEL), as well as with adults in the workplace.

Michelle receives accolades for her energetic and educational conference presentations, as well as her down-to-earth approach to teaching social competencies. The strength of Michelle's work is her ability to break down abstract social concepts and teach them in practical, concrete ways to help people improve their social problem solving abilities and social responses
