Ms. Michelle Bolte has 30 years of nursing experience in varying fields during her career. She has had extensive experience in acute care surgical settings which saw her in the role of clinical nurse consultant in orthopedics, and wound care in a busy Central Coast hospital. During her time here she implemented a pressure area scale tool and wound care education resources for staff. Michelle has also spent 15 years working in remote rural settings in the Western District and Hunter New England Districts that incorporated working in primary health care and acute care settings within a local country community.

Her work within primary health included working within a General practice and community nursing, this enabled her to work with a large group of Medical specialists and as a result has established a wide range of medical professionals who she continues to network with. Michelle has also worked as a Primary health care nurse within Hunter New England and provided the health care activities that involved developing, implementing and managing projects within the communities who are isolated. Michelle has also spent time working in an Aboriginal Medial service as practice manager that enabled her to collaborate with local indigenous families and health professionals to plan and deliver care.

While she was there she led an Aboriginal Health care team to develop and implement a chronic disease pathway treatment for diabetes management that was culturally respectful. During the past 4 years in her role as Infection Prevention Consultant for Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital, Michelle has focused her practice on surveillance and preventing surgical site infections. Her latest project focused on development and implementation of a bundle approach that prevents wound infections for women having caesarean sections that has resulted in a reduction of infections post-surgery.
