Michela Milani PhD

Dr. Michela Milani, Ph.D., is a Project Leader at San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy, specializing in molecular medicine, stem cell biology, and in vivo gene therapy. She earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and has contributed extensively to the advancement of gene therapy approaches for genetic diseases. Her research has focused on the development of gene therapies for hemophilia and the study of liver stem cell biology.

More recently, she has expanded her work into in vivo lentiviral vector–mediated gene therapy, demonstrating effective and stable gene transfer into hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells in neonatal models. She has also developed novel lentiviral vectors designed for safe and efficient in vivo use in non-human primates. As a scientific leader at SR-TIGET, Dr. Milani continues to develop innovative strategies for in vivo genetic engineering and translational gene therapy, with a focus on improving therapeutic delivery platforms for metabolic and hematological diseases.
