Dr. Michel TAZARTES is former intern, former assistant specialist of hospitals, practitioner attached to the National Hospital of Ophthalmology of Quinze-Vingts in Paris. He has been practicing exclusively this oculoplastic and aesthetic specialty for 20 years. He trained in medical and surgical ophthalmology in XV-XX. He then had a training in facial surgery for two years and then spent a few months in a prestigious oculoplastic department in London and New York. As one of the French leaders in this field, he is an active member of SFO, SOPREF, and ESOPRS, French and European learned societies dedicated to these fields of ophthalmology, oculoplastics and aesthetics.
The oculo-plastician by its formation can thus treat in an adult or a child a pathology, perform a gesture of repair surgery or consider a treatment of medicine or cosmetic surgery. The techniques of reconstructive surgery have been enormously enriched over the years to treat a congenital malformation, age-related eyelid abnormalities, benign or malignant tumors of the eyelids or orbit, watery eyes of the infant, sequelae of trauma, exophthalmia of a thyroid disease. In terms of aesthetics, we not only treat greasy palpebral pouches, we also make fat injections into dark circles or cheekbones, malar pouches, drooping, wrinkled eyelids.
The knowledge of ophthalmology allows the oculoplastician to assess the eyeball before surgery to assess or limit the risk of repercussions on the sight or physiology of the eye. To know how to say no in certain cases is essential to avoid complications that could have a serious impact on the eyes. The resulting information can be as complete as possible.
