Michel Cayouette is Director of the Cellular Neurobiology research unit at the IRCM and he holds the Gaëtane et Roland Pillenière chair in retina biology. He obtained a PhD in neurobiology from Université Laval and conducted postdoctoral fellowships at Stanford University in California (USA) and at the University College London in the United Kingdom. Dr. Cayouette is an IRCM Professor and Full Research Professor in the Department of Medicine (accreditation in molecular biology) at Université de Montréal.
He is also Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medicine (Division of Experimental Medicine) and the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at McGill University. Dr. Cayouette is a Research Scholar Emeritus from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS), he is chair of the scientific advisory board of the Foundation Fighting Blindness Canada, director of the retina and posterior segment axis of the FRQS vision health research network, and sits on the editorial boards of the scientific journals Stem Cells, Neurogenesis, and Journal of Experimental Neuroscience.
