Michael Witsch is consultant of pediatric endocrinology and diabetes at the children’s hospital, Hospital Center of Luxembourg since 2009. After having been studying medicine in Ulm/Germany he had worked for 15 years at the Children’s university hospital in Mannheim/Germany. He was head of the department of pediatric endocrinology and diabetology from 2003-2009. Since 2009 he expands the team in Luxembourg and has become interested in international cooperation, which is crucial part of daily work in Luxembourg.
Beside his work as a physician, he developed a clinical information system for children’s hospitals. His special interests are databases, data processing and benchmarking. The key question for him is the incorporation of principles of benchmarking in daily patient care. How to achieve a win-win-situation with informatization? He sees himself as an interface between care giver and computer scientists.
