Michael W. Vannier (S’67–M’71) received the M.D. degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed a diagnostic radiology residency at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO, USA. He is currently a Professor Emeritus of radiology at the University of Chicago. He served as an Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging. In 1994, he was inducted in the U.S. Space Foundation Hall of Fame for working on digital medical imaging.
