Michael Bailey, PhD, is a member of the Molecular Carcinogenesis and Chemoprevention Program at the OSUCCC – James. He brings a special perspective as an associate professor in the Division of Biosciences at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry.
His research seeks to understand how commensal microbes impact immune-system functioning, particularly during endocrine activation. He also is working to determine whether alterations in diet or probiotic microbe consumption can re-establish beneficial host-microbe interactions during diseases.
Dr. Bailey’s recent work has indicated that gut microbes help regulate the inflammatory response in mucosal and systemic compartments. He has co-authored numerous articles to share his research in such publications as Scientific Reports, Nutrients and Gut Microbes.
