Michael Suk, MD, JD, is the systemwide chair of Geisinger’s Musculoskeletal Institute and professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.

He serves on the editorial board for several orthopedic journals and has authored numerous articles and a landmark orthopedic textbook. His work on the link between patient expectations and clinical outcomes in orthopedic trauma surgery has gained worldwide attention. He speaks internationally on orthopedic fracture management; healthcare literacy; access and delivery; and the interface between law and medicine.

Dr. Suk simultaneously earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and his Juris Doctor and Master of Public Health with special certification in healthcare law from Boston University School of Law and School of Public Health. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Weill College of Medicine at Cornell University. He earned his Master of Business Administration from The University of Scranton.
