Dr. Cartwright is a physician in the Department of Neurology, with expertise in neuromuscular disorders. He sees patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), muscular dystrophy, polyneuropathy, Guillain-Barre syndrome, myasthenia gravis, and other neuromuscular conditions. His main research interest is in peripheral nerve and muscle imaging in neuromuscular conditions, and the majority of his research uses high-resolution ultrasound to image nerve and muscle. He is also involved in projects to explore the earliest changes in ALS, to develop biomarkers for patients with ALS, clinical treatment trials for ALS, and to design treatments for muscular dystrophy.
