Dr. Michael Saenger, MD, FACP, has taught evidence-based medicine for 19 years, major depression diagnosis and treatment in primary care for 17 years, and chronic pain management for six years. He began and co-directed Grady Health System’s new Depression Bridge clinic, and began and directed their new Chronic Pain Management Task Force. In 2014 Dr. Saenger completed an advanced fellowship in quality improvement and system redesign with the VA National Quality Scholars Program. Currently Dr. Saenger is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, Physician Lead for Pain Management for VISN 7, and for Atlanta VA Medical Center he is the Director of Empower Veterans Program (large, integrated, training program in self-care for chronic pain) and Leader of the Task Force for Opioid Safety.
