Dr. Michael Pulia is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Emergency Medicine Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In this capacity, he leads a health services research program focused on improving antimicrobial stewardship in the emergency department.

Dr. Pulia received the 2015 New Investigator Program Award from the Wisconsin Partnership Program at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He is currently using the award for a project aimed at improving antibiotic stewardship for residents of long-term care facilities. In 2016, Dr. Pulia was awarded a Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award (K08) from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). This award will support his research examining the use of systems engineering principles to design antibiotic stewardship interventions for the emergency setting.
