Michael R. Ujhelyi, Pharm.D., FCCP, is Vice President, Research and Scientific Affairs at Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation. Dr. Ujhelyi leads the research, population/community health and education programs within MHIF. He is responsible for setting long-range vision and department strategies that focus on collaboration with internal and external partners aligned with MHIF’s vision and strategy. Previously Dr. Ujhelyi directed the Medical Affairs and Scientific Affairs functions within Neuromodulation and CRDM business units respectively at Medtronic. Dr. Ujhelyi has designed and developed several key programs, including an investigator-initiated research program, a field-based medical scientist program and a medical information program.
Prior to Medtronic, Dr. Ujhelyi was an Associate Professor of Pharmacy and Medicine at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and Medical College of Georgia (1993-1998). He has published more than 70 research papers and presented more than 100 research papers at scientific meetings, and has 26 issued patents.
Dr. Ujhelyi received his Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from the University of Florida (1987) and his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1989). He completed a Cardiovascular Therapeutics Fellowship at Hartford Hospital and University of Connecticut (1991).
