Dr. Michael Q. Freehill is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in disorders of the shoulder and elbow and sports medicine. His comprehensive training includes extensive cutting-edge experience in adult-joint reconstruction and arthroscopic reconstructive techniques. Dr. Freehill graduated with high honors in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He earned his Doctor of Medicine with honors from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine where he also went on to complete his orthopaedic surgical residency.

He received additional specialized training in shoulder and elbow reconstruction and sports medicine at the internationally renowned Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center and New York Orthopaedic Hospital in New York City. During that time, he provided medical care for Division I and III collegiate teams as well as professional athletes including the New York Yankees baseball team. Currently Dr. Freehill is the orthopaedic consultant for Macalester College and Wayzata Senior High School.

Academic medicine is a vital part of Dr. Freehill's orthopaedic practice, and he continues to teach and mentor medical students, residents, Fellows, and visiting physicians. He is currently on faculty with the Minnesota Sports Medicine Fellowship. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and American College of Sports Medicine.
