Michael P. H. Tyler MB ChM, FRCS

Michael Tyler qualified as a doctor (MB ChB) in 1988 from Aberdeen University Medical School and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 1992. Following a certified plastic surgery training programme on the Oxford rotation, during which he gained a Master of Surgery degree (ChM) for scientific research, he became accredited as a plastic surgeon (FRCS Plast) in 2000 and a consultant in 2001. He is fully licensed with the GMC and is on the Specialist Register as a plastic surgeon and is a member of the British Association of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons (BAPRAS), the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and the British Burn Association (BBA). Mr Tyler is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe General Hospital.

His NHS practice is centred on providing breast reconstructive surgery to the region, main reconstructions with DIEP flaps, but also includes breast reductions, breast asymmetries and other congenital breast anomalies. He is also a key member of the burns surgery team as well as general plastic surgery cases. He is a previous Clinical Director of the Plastic Surgery and Burns Department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He is a committee member of BAAPS and a past president of the Plastic Surgery Section (2005) of the Royal Society of Medicine. He is Chairman of RESTORE - burn and wound research - a charity researching treatments for scarring. He has presented his work at national and international meetings and has published scientific research papers and book chapters. Mr Tyler’s private practice is principally based around cosmetic surgery to the breasts (breast augmentation and reduction/mastopexy) and abdomen (abdominoplasty) and also includes facial aesthetic surgery (rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty and facelift).
