Dr. Hoen is the director of the graduate endodontic program at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. He also maintains a private practice with the Endodontic Associates PC office in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, D.D.S. degree from the University of Detroit, and Certificate in Endodontics from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. After 30 years of service with the U.S. Army, he retired as a colonel in 1996. To date, he has been the only airborne ranger endodontist in the American Armed Forces.
Dr. Hoen has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics since 1990, and is currently on the ABE Board of Directors. He is a past chair of the AAE Evidence-Based Endodontics Committee. His clinical areas of interest include the application of “evidence” to the decision-making process and endodontic retreatment analysis. He is active in organized dentistry, and has authored numerous scientific articles and lectured worldwide.
