Michael Hodgkins, MD, MPH serves as the Vice President, Chief Medical Information Officer for the American Medical Association. Dr. Hodgkins provides leadership and expertise to the Business Operations Group of the AMA which defines and shapes products and services across the AMA’s various lines of business and guides the AMA’s physician and patient-focused product and service strategies. In addition, he is responsible for developing AMA’s overall HIT strategy.
Dr. Hodgkins is a seasoned physician executive with more than 20 years of experience in health services, clinical connectivity, and e-business solutions. He has a strong clinical, managed care and information technology background. Most recently, he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of NaviNet, Inc.
Dr. Hodgkins completed a residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in General Internal Medicine and Epidemiology at theUniversityofCalifornia, San Francisco where he was previously Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology. He has a background in health planning and policy analysis and his ongoing interests include the design, development, and implementation of clinical information systems to meet the needs of the evolving health care market.
