Professor Michael Jefford is a Consultant Medical Oncologist, Director of the Australian Cancer Survivorship Centre, a Richard Pratt legacy (ACSC, also at Peter Mac) and is a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne.
Michael completed medical oncology training (FRACP) in 1999. He holds a PhD (2002) and Graduate Certificate in University Teaching (2013) from the University of Melbourne and Masters degrees in Health Services Management (2003) and in Public Health (2006) from Monash University. He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Michael has made significant contributions to research, policy and program development and to the international literature regarding cancer survivorship.
Michael was Deputy Director of Medical Oncology from February 2009, stepping down in in July 2017. He was a clinical consultant with Cancer Council Victoria for over 12 years, until 2015. There he worked with the Office of the CEO and across the Strategy and Support Division. He has held several other senior roles, including being a member of the Board of Directors of BreastScreen Victoria.
