Dr. Michael J. Boeckh is a full member of the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division (VIDD) and Clinical Research Division (CRD), as well as head of the Infectious Disease Sciences Program at Fred Hutch. He is also a professor of medicine in the Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at UW and an attending physician on the SCCA Infectious Disease Consulting Service. He specializes in infectious diseases.

Michael J. Boeckh he conducts research on infection in the immunocompromised host. His infections of particular interest include cytomegalovirus, respiratory viruses, and varicella-zoster virus. He earned his M.D. from the Freie Universitat Berlin in 1986 and then his Ph.D. in medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Benjamin Franklin University Hospital in Berlin, Germany. In 1990, he moved to Seattle for an infectious disease fellowship. He is a fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America.
