Dr. Michael Earley graduated from Northwestern University in 1983 with a BA in Biology (Anatomy and Physiology emphasis). He entered The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1984. He was invited into the dual degree program and subsequently received his OD and MS in Physiological Optics in 1988.
He graduated Summa cum Laude and was the recipient of the Beta Sigma Kappa silver medal. Continuing his research in the laboratory of Dr. P.E. King-Smith, Dr. Earley received his Ph.D. in Physiological Optics in 1992. His dissertation was on the acquired visual losses associated with amblyopia. During his graduate studies, he was twice awarded the Ezell Fellowship from the American Optometric Foundation and the Auxiliary Fellowship from the American Optometric Association. In 1998, he was awarded the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching by Ohio State University and was inducted into the Academy of Teaching.
