Dr. Michael Devitt, MD, is an Assistant Professor, originally from Indiana where he received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at UVA in 2014 and served as a Chief Resident at UVA from 2014-2015. He stayed at UVA for his fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology. During their fellowship, he received a UVA Cancer Center Trainee Support grant for research into the effects of chemotherapy on the immune system within lung cancer tumors and was awarded two American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Awards for his research. He served on the Trainee Council of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Devitt's clinical focus is on the treatment of genitourinary malignancies, including cancers of the prostate, bladder, kidneys, and testicles. His research focuses on the effects of chemotherapy on the immune system and immunotherapy as well as enrolling patients in clinical trials with novel therapeutic agents.
