Dr. Michael D. Aiona completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Utah Medical Centre, followed by a year of fellowship training in pediatric orthopaedics at the Shriners Hospital in Greenville,SC. He is presently the chief of staff at Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland,OR, Director of the Motion Analysis Laboratory and Clinical Research.
,br/> Dr Aiona holds an academic appointment as Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation Department at the Oregon Health Sciences University.

Dr Aiona serves on the edititorial board of Gait and Posture, DMCN, JBJS and serves on several committees with in the AACPDM. He is a past president of the GCMAS. He has presented numerous lectures and abstracts in the US, internationally and is widely published.

His research interests include outcomes of interventions in patients with limb length inequality, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and other neuromuscualr conditions. Dr Aiona has been the principal investigator for several large prospective grants from the Shriners Hospital, focusing on ebergy expenditure, orthotic efficacy, strength training, selective dorsal rhizotomy and spina bifida.
