Michael Dae MD

Michael Dae, MD, is a Professor in Residence in Nuclear Medicine Section at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Dae obtained his medical degree in Medicine from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina in 1976, and completed his residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts in 1978, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology from UCSF. Currently, he leads an initiative to increase clinical utilization of cardiac positron emission tomographic imaging (PET) for patients to provide better diagnostic imaging with less radiation exposure, and greater patient experience.

As a research focus, Dr. Dae and his colleagues have developed extensive experience with radionuclide assessment of myocardial sympathetic innervation. They evaluate the ability of MIBG to map sympathetic innervation in various
