Michael C. Weiss DO, FAOAO

Michael C. Weiss, D.O., FAOAO, is our Chairman of the Department of Surgery as well as an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon at Laser Spine Institute Tampa.Since he joined our Laser Spine Institute Tampa team as Chief Spine Surgeon in 2008, Chairman Weiss has been committed to helping patients find relief from chronic neck and back pain. He has one goal: make our patients better. His patient-centered focus is evident in his passion for medical advancement and innovation.

Shortly after joining Laser Spine Institute Tampa in 2008, Chairman Weiss was named Chairman of the Department of Surgery in 2011. In his role, Chairman Weiss trains the orthopedic spine surgeons and neurosurgeons joining Laser Spine Institute’s team. His training involves a six-month intensive program that teaches the minimally invasive techniques used in our decompression and stabilization procedures — ensuring that our patients receive the best care available.

Chairman Weiss is also able to devote his time in advancing spine surgery to help more patients. He is focused on improving patient care, which involves creating new ways to reduce the risks and recovery times associated with spine surgery. While our minimally invasive spine surgery at Laser Spine Institute already offers a lower risk and shorter recovery time^ than traditional open back surgery, Chairman Weiss is continually looking for ways to keep us at the leading edge of the industry.
