Michael M. Altaweel, MD, is a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received his Medical degree from Dalhousie University, where he completed his residency as well. He also completed a fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
Professor Altaweel has been a principal investigator for National Eye Institute-funded clinical trials evaluating uveitis, macular degeneration, retinal vascular disorders, and diabetic retinopathy for the last 20 years. He is particularly interested in imaging and biomarkers. His most recent interest is stem cell and gene therapy.
His research interests include Ophthalmology, Retinal Diseases, Vitreoretinal Surgery, Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration, Vascular Occlusive Disease, and Vitreous Diseases.
