Michael A. Posencheg, MD, serves as the Associate Chief of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety in the Division of Neonatology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). In this role, Dr. Posencheg leads the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety initiatives for newborn care. He has utilized education he received in the Improvement Advisor (IA) program at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) to lead a quality improvement program which contains projects in the areas of hospital acquired infection, delivery room management, improving transitions of care, and decreasing in-unit complications. This work has resulted in multiple awards and recent publications.

In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Dr. Posencheg provides clinical service in the Newborn/Infant Intensive Care Unit at CHOP. During this service time, he is involved in both resident and fellow education, and has been named to the faculty honor roll at CHOP as well as awarded the Istvan Seri, MD, PhD Faculty Teaching Award in the Division of Neonatology in 2010-11 by the Neonatology Fellowship Program.
