Michael A. Newton MD

DR. MICHAEL NEWTON is an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and joined the department in 2001. Dr. Newton is the attending psychiatrist for one of psychiatry's inpatient units at University Hospital. He provides supervision and teaching to psychiatry residents and medical students assigned to his unit.

Dr. Newton is also an attending psychiatrist in the Psychiatric Emergency Services at University Hospital. He provides direct clinical care and supervision to staff, psychiatry residents, and medical students who are assigned to PES.

Dr. Newton received his MD from the University of Illinois. He completed his general psychiatry residency training and a child psychiatry fellowship here in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neuroscience. Dr. Newton has been awarded 3 Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching and the Nancy Roeske Award for Excellence in Teaching from the department and the University.
