Michael A. Chang, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist specializing in hepatobiliary (liver, gallbladder and bile ducts) disorders and pancreatic diseases. He has expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic ultrasound, polypectomy, endoscopic mucosal resection of polyps/lesions, and endoscopic management of gastrointestinal malignancies, including luminal and biliary stenting. As an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Chang trains medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. His research interests include ergonomics in endoscopy, venting gastrostomy tubes in advanced malignancies, and community outreach.

Dr. Chang completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. His internal medicine residency was at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA). He earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Chang is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
