After completing medical school at the University of Amsterdam, she did her residency in Neurology at Hagaziekenhuis in The Hague, gaining valuable expertise in diagnosing and treating neurological disorders in adult patients. However, her passion for pediatric neurology led me to specialize in this field further. She completed extensive training in Pediatric Neurology at two children’s hospitals, Juliana Kinderziekenhuis in The Hague and Sophia Kinderziekenhuis in Rotterdam. These training experiences exposed her to a diverse range of neurological conditions affecting children and adolescents, with a specific focus on neuromuscular diseases.

Currently, I work as a Pediatric Neurologist at LUMC Leiden. Our Pediatric Muscle Center (“Kinderspiercentrum”) is a specialized center within LUMC dedicated to diagnosing and treating neuromuscular conditions in children and adolescents. During a one-day visit, the children are seen by a multidisciplinary team, including a pediatric neurologist, cardiologist, pulmonologist, rehabilitation specialist, orthopedist, physiotherapist, and dietitian. At the end of the day, the results of the examinations are provided. Together with the other Pediatric Muscle centers we are working toward the ultimate goal: earlier diagnosis and availability of treatment for all children with a neuromuscular disease.
