Menno De Jong MD, PhD

enno de Jong is clinical microbiologist, professor of clinical virology and head of the Department of Medical Microbiology at the Academic Medical Center/University of Amsterdam since 2008. His research is focused on clinical and translational research in emerging infectious diseases, in particular (avian) influenza. His interest in this field stems from his prior work in southeast Asia at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit in Vietnam where he set up and headed the Laboratory of Virology between 2003 and 2008. During the last decade, he has continued to enjoy fruitful collaborative research in Vietnam and Indonesia, recently broadening the focus of research to antimicrobial resistance (funded by KNAW-SPIN).
