Mengistu Asnake Kibret MD, MPH

Dr. Mengistu Asnake Kibret, MD, MPH is a Country Director at Pathfinder International-Ethiopia. Dr. Mengistu Asnake is a public health specialist with more than 30 years of experience in reproductive health, primary health care, child survival, community health services, program management, training, operational research, and clinical service delivery. Previously, he served as chief of party for our Integrated Family Health Program, a flagship USAID family planning and maternal, newborn, and child health program in Ethiopia. He joined our team in 1999.

Prior to joining Pathfinder, Mengistu worked at various levels of Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health. He is currently serving as the immediate past president of the World Federation of Public Health Associations (2016-2018). He previously served as the president of the Ethiopian Public Health Association (2006-2009) and president of the World Federation of Public Health Associations (2014-2016).

He has an MD at the Gondar College of Medical Sciences at Addis Ababa University and an MPH at Addis Ababa University. Mengistu speaks Amharic and English.
